Neons And Pastels – Two Parties In One

For Kimi’s 9th and Ilina’s 2nd birthday I decided to do a joint party. Their birthdays are only a couple of weeks apart and by having them on the same day I was saving money (…right??!).

Ilina’s theme was based on My Little Pony, using mainly pastel colours.

Kimi’s theme was based on Geometry Dash (one of his favourite iPad games), using mainly neon colours.

Both cakes were made by Yiota from My Sweet Addiction and they were an absolute hit.

Ilina’s cake was white chocolate mud cake decorated with white buttercream, metallic sprinkles and macarons. The My Little Pony figurines were from Target and I can’t believe they managed to escape Ilina’s clutches at least until after she blew out her candles!

Kimi’s cake was based on one of the “skins” in the Geometry Dash game. If your kids are into gaming you will know what I mean by “skins”! Yiota absolutely nailed the straight edges and the bright yellow colour and the red velvet mud cake tasted amazing.

Balloons were from S.H.E. Style Hire Events and were amazing! In particular I loved the balloons for Kimi’s theme. They matched the Geometry Dash colours perfectly and the tassels to the floor were super cool.

Doughnut Wall

The doghnut wall from S.M.B.E. Doughnut Walls was UH-MAZING!

This included the doughnuts (in the flavours and colours of our choice), balloons, signage, and light up stars. The Krispy Kreme doughnuts were SO good. They made for an amazing backdrop and I didn’t need to organise any additional desserts!

Abby does the delivery, the set up and the pick up – and even provides spare doughnuts so that as they are being eaten, you can replenish the wall! The walls come in a range of sizes and colours and the accompanying balloons can be in a style and colour of your choice.

Both our kids are energetic and kids of this age group generally are. These kids had energy to burn and they did not stop for about 3 HOURS!

Ninja Inflatable Obstacle Course – Jump Easy

We decked out a school hall with a massive inflatable obstacle course, velcro soccer darts (which only resulted in 3 soccer balls to the head, one of which belonged to hubby) and inflatable Twister (which the kids didn’t use as a jumping castle AT ALL mm-mm nope).

But most popular were the electric ride on animals. These things are amazing! Each time there was a kid riding one they were closely followed by another couple of kids just waiting for them to jump off. They’re actually quite fun to ride on…so I’m told.

All items were hired from Jump Easy. Check out their full range for hire on the Jump Easy Facebook Page.

Music, Face Painting and Crazy Hair

The fun activities were all tied together with disco lights, karaoke, music of our choice and entertainment by Chloe and Kim. Chloe came dressed as Emma Wiggle because that’s Ilina’s favourite Wiggle but she has a variety of costumes that she can wear, based on your kids’ favourite characters! She also let Kimi choose the music for her DJ’ing set (I love that he loves house music and techno lol). Chloe made sure there were some Wiggles songs too for the younger guests.

Kim did glitter face paint and crazy hair for the kids – it was a hit for the girls and the boys! Chloe and Kim were hired through Elio of Mr Oopy Children’s Entertainment.

Elio has a range of options available and can help you choose the right entertainment for your event.

All the tableware was from Kmart. Their party range at the moment is incredible! And low prices too. I bought the table covers ($1 each!), neon cups, clear plastic bowls, metallic straws, printed napkins, YAY lolly bags and a light up YAY sign. I also bought accessories for the kids to have a bit of a selfie station and some fun props but forgot to photograph them gah!

I loved the comnination of colourful themes in this party – pastel, neon, metallic! It looks great with a white backdrop and accessories. The only thing I regret is running out of time to order a neon sign – that would have just been the icing on the cake! If I had time I would have ordered from Electric Confetti Neon Studio. Their range is amazing and they can even do personalised signs!

According to one of Kimi’s mates the party was “ballistic”. Feedback like that and the happy, smiling faces of the kids is what makes all the time spent planning and organising worth while.

Check out the photo gallery below of the fun that was had on the day and all the stockists and suppliers have been linked again at the end of the page.
